CIBC Run For The Cure. On the morning of September 30th, over 13,000 beautiful souls got out of their warm beds to run in the pouring rain to pay special tribute to loved ones who have survived and/or been taken by cancer and to raise money to help find a cure. The day was fully alive with tears, courage, determination, joy, memories, hope and love. The HugSquad Team was there to send them off and then to receive them as they all streamed through the finish line. Hugs, high-5's, and "WELL-DONES" were handed out as fast as we could count. Our team stayed at their post until the final runner, a young 6 year old boy, ran straight through the finish gates into the arms of one of our little huggers Noah (7). Such a sublime moment is difficult to describe but it seemed to reflect, in one magical moment, the sum of our experiences that morning at the run. So many beautiful people doing so many beautiful things all at once. Moments like these certainly renew our faith in humanity. Congratulations to all the runners, the survivors, and the volunteers for making this event such a success. Thank-you again to all the huggers who got out of their own warm beds that morning and stepped beyond their own needs to serve others in such a profound way. You are all so beautiful!

Love exists all places...Even in the rain! A big heartfelt thanks goes out again to the people who came out to extend love over the last couple of events. The wet weather has challenged the Squad to rise above and to offer love on the streets of Vancouver in spite of the pouring rain. In a way it seems to reflect the inner dilemma so many of us face. It's always easy to find a reason to not love (like the rain, or that judgement you have about another). The deeper challenge is to love in those moments when everything unlike love shows up and you feel like you want to stop. Here is where we are called to choose again...your choice in these moments to love is more powerful than preference to withdraw.

HugSquad Kick-Off A Great Success: On Saturday July 21st HugSquad kicked-off on the corner of Davie and Denman. About 20 huggers with wide open hearts extended their hearts and their passion and handed out over 800 hugs in under 2 hours. We changed the lives of these people, if for some, in only a small way, and for a few others, immeasurably. Men & women, adults & children, rich & poor, gays & straights, bus drivers, and even a few dogs got in on the act. A few passer-byers were so inspired they just picked up a sign and joined in! A BIG HUGE THANK-YOU to all who came out to serve and to those who sent their love and support! This wouldn't happen without YOU.
